On April 29, 2018, my husband and I lost our brother-in-law to Parkinson's related illness. I was asked to give an Eulogy which I did from the heart, with online help...just sharing in his memory:
It's a daunting and quite difficult task to give an Eulogy but I have the honour today to share a few thoughts with you about our beloved brother-in-law Bharat whom, we family members fondly called as Daddy, Anna, Bavoji, babuji and bavoji uncle.
I wish to start with a poem:
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not meant to be.
So he put his arms around you
And whispered 'Come to Me'.
With tearful eyes we watched you
As we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
Your Golden Heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us.
He only takes the best.
Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade
Even though a loved one is gone,
Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart,
For as long as there is memory,
They'll live on in the heart.
First to Jessy: Jessy, You left no stone unturned to give your life partner of almost 42 years, the best medical care, attention and comfort until his last breath with compassion, love and total devotion. He trusted you which should be a great solace to your broken heart.
To Ashwini, Shannu to the Family: I can imagine the hollowness you feel now as I have lost my dad too. The pain and heartache that you feel in losing your daddy who was so caring, affectionate and loved you so deeply must be ' unbearable to you. No one ever can replace your daddy's place. We sympathize with you.
To Deepak, I am at a loss for words. We all know how deeply you cared for daddy sick or otherwise. The care you gave to him is exemplary, showed your love and concern for him. God bless you all always.
Diya is too young to know that her grandpa is no more.
About our beloved Bharat, he was born and brought up in Mangalore. Studied in St. Aloysius College and served as Finance Manager with Christian Childrens' Fund for 16 years. He also worked with Indo-German Social Service Society for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his mother, three younger siblings, wife and one daughter, Shannu.
He was a very humble human being. Very simple and helpful to one and all. We will remember him for his good heart and great humour.
By saying these few words we bid farewell to your physical body, as we know that you will forever be with us in spirit.
Rest in eternal peace wonderful soul till we meet again.
